Meet the Entrepreneurial Sisters Behind Season 2 Consign
Sisters Monica Tapia-Mularski and Erika Tapia Schrieber launched their preowned luxury goods platform in the Summer of 2020 with a tech-driven, recession-resistant approach to scaling their business. With a focus on live stream shopping, operational excellence, and an authentic method of connecting with clients online, Season 2 Consign quickly became a pioneer in the secondhand luxury space. In 2022, they began franchising their concept to expand the brand and share their business model with other like-minded business owners. Season 2 Consign is now in 6 cities, 3 more scheduled to open by Summer 2024.
Can you start by introducing yourself and telling us in your words, about your inspiring story?
We are the daughters of immigrants. Instilled from an early age was an ethos to work smart and to carve out opportunities where there otherwise might not be. In 2020, amidst a landscape where the luxury resale market felt antiquated, we spotted the white space—an opportunity for innovation within our industry.
We envisioned a digitally native platform that not only preserved but elevated the luxury experience through interactive live shopping streams and a one-of-a-kind franchise model. This vision was the foundation upon which Season 2® Consign was built, our sweet spot where digital innovation meets luxury client support.
At the heart of Season 2® lies our vibrant community of franchise owners, their consignors, and our global network of shoppers—a diverse group of people with a passion for secondhand luxury and authenticity. This community is not just the backbone of our marketplace; it is the very soul of our brand. Building Season 2® has been a journey marked by innovation and an unwavering dedication to our vision of revolutionizing resale.

What social media platform is the best for business growth and why?
Almost any major platform can be great for business growth, the key is leaning in and committing to that platform with consistent content and engaging with the people using said platform. Of course, be sure that your target audience is there and actively engaged!
How did you market your business when it was brand new?
We had no budget for marketing. We went live every day on Instagram at a time when everyone was home on their devices looking for someone to connect with – Summer 2020. We shared our vision with our viewers. We were relentless about acquiring products to sell, selling them quickly, and doing it over and over again. We gave our hearts to the business – and made sure people knew it with every live show and every piece of content. It resonated with our viewers, and so we slowly created a tribe. At first there were 7 viewers, then 70, then 700 on any given show.
What book do you think everyone on the team should read?
- Obsessed by Emily Heyward
- Start with Why by Simon Sinek
- Surrounded by Idiots by Thomas Erikson
If you had one piece of advice for someone just starting out, what would it be?
Your service or product must solve someone’s problem. Identify their problem and be the solution. Then, market your business in a way that puts solution-finding at the forefront of your brand. Be prepared to underpromise and overdeliver as you scale.
What stage were you in your career when you came across this idea and decided to pursue it?
I spent over a decade in the secondhand space before approaching my business-minded sister and co-founder Monica about launching the Season 2 brand. In many ways, it was my apprenticeship and I value that time in my career tremendously. I learned so much about what I wanted to bring with me to a new brand, and what I wanted to change. Don’t underestimate the time you serve in other brands – there’s so much value there! – Erika
