Actor William Levy has made his first major statement about his arrest in Florida.
The Cuban-American actor made the statement in a video posted to the Instagram page of journalist Maria Fernanda Lopez.
The interview is in Spanish. According to a translation by Newsweek, Levy denied accusations that he assaulted a restaurant worker.
“No, no—come on, there are cameras,” he said.
According to Newsweek, Levy said he was trying to break up an argument instead.
“All of a sudden, he started arguing with another guy to deescalate the situation, and I’m the one who ended up in handcuffs,” he said to reporters.
“I tried to stay calm the whole time. In the end, I was the one who had to leave,” he said. According to Newsweek, when he was questioned by reporters about a trespassing charge, he responded, “Well, they had to take me in for something.”
According to Local10, William Gutiérrez-Levy, was arrested on Monday, April 14, 2025, in Weston, Florida, by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
The accusations stem from a “disturbance” at the Argentinian restaurant, Baires Grill, according to Local10.
Local10 reported that authorities accused Levy of being “highly intoxicated and causing a disturbance inside the restaurant, was given a trespass warning,” and ordered not to return by the manager on duty.”
According to Local10, he is accused of ignoring officers’ commands to “leave the restaurant” and was booked into jail “on charges of disorderly intoxication in a public place, causing a disturbance, and trespassing.” He was then freed on bail, according to Local10, which is when he spoke with reporters.
Levy was previously a contestant on Dancing With the Stars and has starred in a number of movies, including Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. According to AZFamily, he is also a telenovela actor.
